Role

ECHO: Index is the discovery and knowledge system for items, recipes, usage, archives, and progression clues.

Index should help players understand what they have found and why it matters without forcing them to leave the experience for scattered external notes.

What Index Can Contain

Index entries can cover:

Items and blocks.
Recipes and usage paths.
Machine inputs and outputs.
Archive logs.
Discovered technologies.
Faction or world records.
Progression hints.
Module-provided references.

Developer Integration

Modules should provide Index data through providers rather than hard-coding one global list. A module that adds a machine, relic, scanner target, or recipe family should be able to describe that content to Index.

Entries should include enough context to help players act. A recipe without source, requirement, or unlock information is less useful than a short explanation tied to the current progression state.

Ashfall Use

Ashfall can use Index for recovered pre-Gridfall records, orbital cache data, Nexus fragments, machine documentation, survival recipes, faction documents, and hidden unlock knowledge.
